I'm working with 3 handlers with dogs in training for certification and registration as Assistance Dogs.
One is a child who, with the help of his family, is dealing with the affects of Autism.
Two others are ex members of the Defence Force dealing with PTSD.
My role in this training is largely surrounding control and obedience in preparation for passing the Public Access Test (PAT), the first step in registering an assistance dog.
It's been an absolute privilege getting to know them, their families and their dogs. I've been so impressed with their dedication to the dogs that provide them with so much comfort, companionship and help.
Very exciting times .👍
